Home Chef Review
The first thing that I enjoyed about Home Chef was how easy it is to select the meals I want sent to me via their website. There are selections for specific diets with a great variety of simple recipes to choose from. The serving sizes can also be selected to serve 2,4 and 6 persons. Meals can be selected to receive 2-8 meals per week. A wide variety of selection to fit any family style. Each week, you can use the personalized recipe recommendations they provide you. Or, you can pick from 11 fresh, chef-designed dinners, priced at $9.95 per serving. They change their menu weekly to give you countless new dinner options.
I used our meal selections for lunches in our home. The Korean Pork Medallions with Sriracha marinade and crunchy rice vinegar slaw was 2 servings in size. However, I would say it fed about 3 servings. I think it depends on the portions people tend to eat, but we squeezed another serving out of it.
Our delivery came with a cookbook binder and the recipe cards for our two meals. I liked that the recipe cards were easy to read and gave me all of the information I needed for nutrition, spice level, cook time, etc. The welcome booklet in the binder is also a great tool to teach some of the basics of prepping and cooking. The storage and preparation information is very helpful for those who might be newer to cooking fresh meals at home. On the back, Home Chef explains how to reuse and recycle the packaging. It is great to see companies be conscious of their environmental impact.
The delivery came well packaged and ready to go. Each ingredient packaged individually without being wasteful. I like how simple it is to grab everything I need for a meal with one package. The items are packed in a well-lined shipping box with cooling packs. I didn’t notice our box had been delivered and it sat for a bit outside. When I opened it, it was still chilled and in perfect condition.
When it was time to cook, it couldn’t have been easier. As most know, I love simple things. Especially when cooking. I want home cooked meals that are healthy and happy, but I don’t always have time for the hassle. With Home Chef, I was able to get meals on the table that looked beautiful and tasted amazing. I also can trust that their ingredients are a great choice for my family by who they partner with; including Hofseth, InHarvest and Giorgio.
The recipe cards were simple to follow. The ingredients are already portioned to properly cook with less waste. Not to mention, less time trying to figure out what is needed for the recipe.
Our meals were ready in an hour or less. The Korean Pork Medallions were especially easy to make. I had lunch on the table in just about 30 minutes. I was pleased with how awesome the meal tasted. It felt good to prepare such a fabulous dish on my own. I already love to cook, but I was pretty proud of myself. This food subscription box from Home Chef makes cooking fun and simple.
No more excuses of not knowing what to cook. Even purchasing seven meals a week for six people costs about the same as eating out at fast food. Why not ensure that money for “faster food” is going toward a healthier choice? The ingredients are all prepared. There really isn’t anything to it but a beautiful meal that just about anyone can create.
I enjoyed Home Chef. The meals were flavorful and fresh. I recommend it to anyone who is looking into a food box subscription to make meal time simple.
